We have been talking about this for a while. The other night we bought the tickets. On August 26, my wife and I are taking our three kids and moving from Alberta, Canada to Las Terrenas, Dominican Republic.
Part of this started a few years ago when I had a health scare. Before, and particularly after that, we had spoken of living someplace else; someplace warm and where our family could experience a different culture and way of life. About a year after my surgery I told my wife that we should just move -- just go.
It has been a journey just to get to this place ... 82 days from boarding a plane and leaving our lives for a different world.
